Thandie Newton in Talks to Join Han Solo 'Star Wars' Spinoff Movie

Details of Newton's character were being kept locked tight. Variety reports that Westworld's Thandie Newton is in talks for the movie, although not too surprisingly, there's no info on what her character might be.

Editors at The Hollywood Reporter announced the Westworld actress is the latest famous name linked to the standalone Star Wars project, which began shooting earlier this month (Feb17).

Han Solo movie is happening and as the days progress we are getting more confirmations about the behind the camera and on-camera cast and crew.

She would join a cast that includes Hail Caesar's Alden Ehrenreich as Han and Atlanta's Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian as well as Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson in undisclosed roles. Newton was recently nominated for a Golden Globe and two SAG awards for her performance in the show's first season. Aside from Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bride from the British comedy series, "Fleabag" is also in the talks of joining the cast to portray the role of a droid.

The 44-year-old British actress is best known for playing handsome, razor-sharp madam Maeve Millay in HBO's Westworld, as well as her film roles in The Pursuit of Happyness and Mission: Impossible II.
