The boy was riding in the back seat of a auto, with his 20-year-old aunt in the front passenger seat and a 26-year-old man driving, according to authorities, when another man began shooting at them. White was travelling with his aunt and her boyfriend when they were shot at in the city's West Side Lawndale neighbourhood.

Lavontay White, identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was later pronounced dead in hospital. Devonte, who is pregnant, was also shot in the stomach. The 12-year old, Kanari Gentry-Bowers, was also shot Saturday and is now in critical condition at Stroger Hospital.

"This has got to stop", Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said at the crime scene, according to CBS News. Screaming is heard as the footage becomes jumbled but shows the woman exiting the auto and running toward a house.

Family members said she was four months pregnant.

"Our consciences are shaken and our hearts are broken", Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel said in a statement Tuesday evening. Another girl, Kanari Gentry Bowers, 12, was also wounded over the weekend and has remained in critical condition and on life support.

Lavontay was the third child shot in the city in three days, and the second to die.
