A 17-year-old teenager in Kannur has given birth to a baby after being allegedly raped by a priest in a church. The girl, a Plus 1 student, had given birth to a baby two months ago.
The family had abandoned the newborn at an orphanage, police said.
After Sunday Mass, Father Robin moved to Kochi in an attempt to fly to Canada. The girl delivered at a private hospital in Thokkilangadi hear.
The matter came to light after an anonymous call alerted the district Childline. The priest tried to mislead the parents and admitted the girl to a hospital that was under his control.
Republicans must repeal Obamacare soon
The bill would repeal Obamacare's income-based tax subsidies and replace them with refundable tax credits that vary by age. The plan, leaked to reporters Friday, largely mirrors previous blueprints proposed by Republican lawmakers.
In the initial stages, the victim had given a statement that her own father had committed the crime.
"We are also checking if the church-run Christuraj hospital near Thalassery where the minor delivered a baby almost a month ago had duly informed the authority of the childbirth".
The priest has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO). The priest was taken to St. Sebastian's church to collect evidence.
Meanwhile the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) expressed regret over the incident. "The girl's father was not aware of the harsh laws and what was in store for him", said the officer, adding that the father's "loyalty towards the priest" also prompted him to shoulder the blame of the vicar's alleged crime. The police said a case would be registered against the hospital.
