Lorde drops 'drunk'-sounding new song 'Liability' and album release date

Posted March 10, 2017

One week after releasing lead radio single "Green Light", Lorde shared another track from her forthcoming "Melodrama".

Like her Green Light single, a breakup song that she said was written from the perspective of "that drunk girl at a party", Liability continued to delve into the world of cringe teen memories. Today she's blessed us with the second installment from her sophomore album and people are feeling very emotional. The melancholy song has a slow beat and contains heartbreaking lyrics like, "I know that it's exciting / Running through the night but / Every flawless summer's eating me alive / Until you're gone / Better on my own, they say". Last week, she told ZM's Fletch, Vaughan and Megan that Green Light was "kind of a curve ball".

The new album is now available for pre-order.

Syrian opposition accepts United Nations principles at end of peace talks
Syria peace talks have ended with a clear agenda to pursue a political solution to the six-year-long conflict. Since the last round of talks in Geneva, the Syrian opposition lost control of the strategic city of Aleppo.

Lorde also revealed an official release date for Melodrama- June 16th.

Lorde will be giving her first performance of this new material on American sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live tomorrow night in the States. Both tracks were co-produced with Jack Antonoff of the band fun. It has been a long wait for new music from Lorde, since her debut album Pure Heroine did extremely well when it was released in 2013.
