According to multiple reports, the singer filed a restraining order against her ex on Monday, forcing him to steer clear of her and the couple's three children. In her declaration, the America's Got Talent judge recounted a number of incidents in which Belafonte reportedly threatened and beat her.
She added that after becoming "overcome with emotional and physical exhaustion" from the pattern of abuse she attempted to take her own life by consuming an entire bottle of Aspirin.

The 41-year-old singer filed divorce papers on Monday, March 20, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split in legal papers filed at Los Angeles Superior Court. She wasn't able to say no, either, as he allegedly recorded the 3-ways, then threatened her with leaking the tapes to ruin her career.
She also said Stephen, 41, impregnated their nanny.
Stephen has strongly denied his estranged wife's claims, telling TMZ on camera that he had been "set up".
