Tebow demolishes 3-run home run, closes in on Jordan

Posted April 13, 2017

Tebow, the former Heisman Trophy victor turned longshot New York Mets prospect, hit a three-run shot in the fifth inning off Augusta Greenjackets reliever Jose Morel, a no-doubter over the fence in right center field at Spirit Communications Park. The 2007 Heisman Trophy victor didn't have the same doubts on his second dinger.

The left-hander hitting Tebow hit the first pitch he saw in his third at bat deep over the right-field wall in the sixth inning.

For the season, Tebow's 13 official at-bats have yielded 3 hits, 3 runs, 5 RBIs and 5 strikeouts. "I saw him in spring training and the way he went about his business, but I've seen even more progress here". Needless to say, Tebow has continued to defy the doubters and show that at the very least he can hold his own in minor league baseball.

Two adults dead, two kids shot at California school
A prayer vigil will be held at a San Bernardino church Monday night in the wake of a school shooting that left three people dead. Holly Penalber, whose 9-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter attend the school, called it "every parent's worst nightmare".

Fun fact: Tebow's two home runs are only one short of Michael Jordan's total for his entire minor league career.

The Fireflies continue their season with three straight home games against the Hickory Crawdads starting Monday night at 7:05 pm.
