North Korea issues direct criticism of China amid nuke dispute

North Korean state media is never shy about telling the U.S.to get bent, but the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) seldom turns its ire to China, Pyongyang's strongest and most important ally.

Trump also spoke on Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed "how best to resolve the very risky situation in North Korea", the White House said.

Tillerson also said that the usa was ready to engage in talks with North Korea "when conditions are right", adding that Washington was sending a "very, very clear and resolute" message that the country's security and economic prosperity "can only be secured" through commitment to denuclearization, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to WSJ, Kim is the third known US citizen to be detained by North Korea in recent months.

The KCNA commentary warned Chinese newspapers to refrain from issuing "reckless remarks" and urged them to better understand why it needs to advance nuclear technologies.

Tillerson said the Trump administration had been "leaning hard into China.to test their willingness to use their influence, their engagement with the regime".

The KCNA commentary charged that the Chinese articles had attempted to shift the blame to Pyongyang for "deteriorated relations" between China and North Korea and USA deployment of strategic assets to the region.

South Korea's unification ministry said Thursday that it was rare for North Korea to directly criticize China, one day after Pyongyang claimed that Beijing is undermining their ties by implementing sanctions.

It also accused China of "hyping up" damage caused by North Korean nuclear tests to China's three northeastern provinces.

Many fear that North Korea is preparing to conduct its sixth nuclear test in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions.

DPRK is the acronym of the country's formal name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Tillerson said China has reaffirmed support for a "denuclearised" Korean peninsula but that Washington would test their commitment to help rein in their neighbour by "leaning into them hard".
