Posted May 14, 2017

NBC's freshman time travel drama has been renewed for a second season days after getting canceled, EW has confirmed. The new episodes will air in 2018.

This is not a drill: NBC has reversed course on its decision to cancel Timeless.

While the un-cancellation of Timeless is great news for the show's fans, we'll have to wait and see just when the show resurfaces on NBC. Initially thought #Timeless would be on next summer, now it may be 2018 spring.

The renewal will not leave fans of the show hanging as Ryan and Kripke went with a Season 1 finale that ended in a cliffhanger and set up a second season.

Well, now season 2 will indeed be coming!

Sources toldThe Hollywood Reporter that Sony TV offered the lion's share of the profits for the show in exchange for another season, believing that their show has a chance to become a long-running franchise.

This renewal also is further proof that live+same day ratings are no longer the only thing that matters when it comes to keeping a show around.
