The searches were conducted at the premises of the son of RJD MP and former union minister Prem Chand Gupta, and few other businessmen.

However, shortly after Lalu's tweet, RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha appeared to have launched a damage control, saying the reference to "new alliance partners" was an allusion to how the BJP had picked up Income Tax department and CBI as its partners to harass political rivals.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders had alleged Lalu Prasad was connected to hundreds of "benami" properties. "There are allegations of Benami deals worth about Rs 1,000 crore and subsequent tax evasion", a senior official told the news agency.

Along with Lalu Prasad Yadav, the raids are being conducted on several others in connection with benami land deals worth 1,000 crore.

Prasad rapped the BJP in yet another tweet for "sensing an opportunity to destabilise the Grand Alliance government in Bihar" and asserted that the coalition was "intact".

Rashtriya Janta Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav vented his anger on the Union Government through his Twitter handle.

The minister said that Misa Bharti, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was unsuccessful to reveal properties details in her election affidavit, she is Rajya Sabha MP. "Lalu is not scared of BJP-backed media and government puppets".
