There continues to be no justice in the world, even on TV, as Simone Biles, the world's best gymnast and #BlackGirlMagic extraordinaire, was voted off Dancing With the Stars preceding the show's finals despite snagging flawless scores because, duh, she's Simone Biles. After doing the routine for eight years and with the hard parts over, she let her confidence show. The petite gymnast responded with "Smiling doesn't win you gold medals".
The real shock arrived when the axe came down on Biles, despite the fact that the Olympic gold medalist had earned two ideal scores on Monday, while Ross has never earned a single 10!
The biting comeback received an outpouring of support from her fans, who applauded Biles for standing up for herself against the judges' surprisingly lackluster feedback. Vying for Mirror Ball are Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater, Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy, and David Ross and Lindsay Arnold. Julianne was thrilled with their foxtrot and, more importantly, with David's butt.
I have been going since the Olympics non-stop and then I came into here to "Dancing With the Stars" and the experience was wonderful... "There's a lot of expectation on her shoulders, and we're just gonna go back into the studio and keep digging".
But her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, wasn't as enthused by the potential romance. "And I'll be back next week for the finale", she replied with a smile and a giggle. Rashad and Emma must do the sensuous, fluid rumba and Bruno wants to help Rashad with his "extremities"; specifically his giant man hands and size 14 feet. "Beautiful." Len said that Simone's footwork in the jive was "sharp, precise", and Carrie Ann tearfully said that in the rumba, Simone "put it all on the dance floor". "You went for it", said Bruno. Len added, "No one has tried harder, worked harder or entertained more". "I think she's embraced the show, got everything out of it that she wanted and in the process made great friends", Normani told ET.
Josh Gordon's application denied; agent cut ties weeks ago
Although he'll get a chance to apply to be reinstated again in the fall, there's not much time for his situation to change. Gordon was suspended for two games in 2013, 10 games in 2014, all 16 games in 2015 and the first four games in 2016.
And while it was between the last four hopefuls, the resulting elimination was still a surprise to everyone in the studio.
Next week is the big finale.
Monday night's broadcast featured the four remaining couples each performing two complete dance routines.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC. As for the dance, Carrie Anne responded with a very loud "yes you DID!"
