Three militants were killed during an alleged gunfight on Wednesday in southern Jammu-Kashmir's Tral area, according to Indian army.
"16-year-old Younis Ahmed Sheikh had been hit by multiple pellets in the chest and he died in the hospital", a senior doctor at Srinagar's Shri Mahataja Hari Singh hospital told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to safety concerns. The Kashmir Valley saw an encounter between terrorists and security forces every day.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants are being ascertained, the official said.
He said as the security personnel were conducting house to house searches, they came under heavy volume of fire from the hiding militants.

During the encounter, three militants of Zakir Musa's group identified as Zahid Ahmad Bhat resident of Nowdal Tral, Mohammad Ishaq Bhat resident of Batagund Tral and Mohammad Ashraf Dar resident of Baghi Trich, Pulwama were eliminated.
A police statement said two AK-47 rifles and a pistol were found at the site.
All three militants killed, they were members of Zakir Musa group. "Both Ishaq and Zahid were involved in a firing incident at Tral market, resulting in injuries to three persons". At places irate crowds of youth clashed with the security forces who fired teargas canisters to quell stone-pelting mobs. During law & order situation, one person sustained pellet injuries and later on succumbed to his injuries.
These terrorists were believed to have been working for Hizbul Mujahideen earlier, but had recently switched over to Zakir Musa's group.
