Editor's Note: This is the fourth and final article of a series on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight to be held August 26.
The Nevada Athletic Commission announced last week the names of the officials for the bout. The fans dictate the fight: if they want to see it, they get it. Few have been able to take it, and part of the intrigue of this fight is whether Mayweather will be able to survive the shot.
This fight has not yet taken place and already we have a number of fighters interested in the idea of more crossover matches (Tony Bellew, Michael Bisping, David Haye and Jimi Manuwa). The fighter - based in Las Vegas - told friends, family (and the other 16.4 million of his Instagram followers) looking for tickets to next week's fight to reach out to Solky's company instead. Of course, like I said, we've been going back and forth with the whole MMA thing for a long time.
Ali-Inoki offers many parallels to the highly lucrative Mayweather-McGregor affair. That will be enough to elevate it to Mayweather-Pacquiao status, even if it doesn't fare as well at the box office in Las Vegas. I will be watching ... as will you.
"I don't think Mayweather's done it for the money, I don't think he needs the money: he's done well from boxing".
"What other mixed martial artist is like me?" It just doesn't seem to me like McGregor has that much of one, barring judicial insanity or a freak accident like a twisted ankle or something along those lines. "I tell you what, he said he's going to come at me?"
"I don't think it is a fight that I am going to jump on a plane and go to see unless they pay me to commentate on it". "Then, when we got over there, he asked my PR guy, 'When do we start rehearsals?' and some moron from the Japanese side who hadn't been clued in started shouting, 'What rehearsal?' That spooked Ali, and he wouldn't hear about rehearsals after that".
McGregor, Ireland's first UFC belt holder, enters his bout with 49-0 Mayweather having never boxed professionally.
The two have come in for a lot of online trolling in recent weeks in particular, as both teams went back and forth with one another in the media.
