Rams vs. Cowboys Odds: Point Spread, Total & Prediction

Posted October 02, 2017

After playing on the road for the past two games, the Cowboys will be returning home to Dallas this week for something of a rarity: a game that kicks off at 1 p.m. ET.

How impressive has this young man been?

Prescott finished 20 of 35 with 252 yards and three touchdowns, but this was after a near flawless first half with 11 of 15 passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns.

Demarcus Lawrence has suddenly emerged as one of the best pass rushers in the league and last Monday night he nearly single handedly dominated the Arizona Cardinals offensive front, recording three sacks. The Cowboys are running team and this already looks pretty bleak for the Rams.

This isn't very good news for the Dallas defense considering the secondary has been struggling. Their 3rd down efficiency has also dropped from 2016, going from a 42.3% conversion rate to 34.2% this season.

Dallas would come right back with its longest run of the day, with running back Alfred Morris taking a handoff 70 yards to the Los Angeles five-yard line.

Rams RB Todd Gurley has quickly made everyone forget about his woeful sophomore season. Gurley has also added an additional 140 yards and two TDs catching the ball out of the backfield. Linebacker Sean Lee didn't practice with a hamstring injury and will likely be a gametime decision. Lee leads Dallas with 25 tackles, and we should expect him to be all over the field making plays against Gurley on Sunday. And if you can't watch, you can certainly listen on Sirius XM Radio.

Jose Mourinho: 'Paul Pogba out for the long term'
Paul Pogba injured his hamstring Sept 12 in the UEFA Champions League opener vs FC Basel and hasn't played since. Long-term injuries I don't speak about them - Ibra, Pogba , Rojo , I don't think about these players'.

The Rams (3-1) rallied from 11 points down late in the first half and matched their start from a year ago, when they went 1-11 the rest of the way as No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff was sitting and later lost the first seven starts of his career.

Ryan Switzer made a few key special teams mistakes today, but none were greater than that second quarter fumble which resulted in seven points for the Rams.

With the Rams getting gashed on the ground, don't be surprised if the Cowboys feed Elliott until he can't eat anymore. LA (+6) will most likely be the popular bet on this spread, but I actually like Dallas here.

More important for the Dallas Cowboys, following Sunday's 35-30 loss to the surprising Los Angeles Rams, it has them at a crossroads heading into an uncertain part of the season.

Dallas' defense did take a shot of its own this week.

Defensively, the Rams are doing well, but are not playing to the level most thought the unit would under defensive guru Wade Phillips. Everyone else should be healthy enough in what has become one of the most prolific offenses in the league. This leads to a lack of execution which sometimes turns into the big plays the Rams have given up so far. DE Robert Quinn's 17 forced fumbles are the most in the National Football League since start of 2013 campaign.
