Rahul targets Defence Minister Nirmala Seetharaman on Rafale deal

Why don't you question Prime Minister Modi on the Rafale deal, or on Amit Shah's son.

A day after Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa said that the Rafale deal is not overpriced and denied allegations that the Narendra Modi government had negotiated an overpriced deal to purchase 36 Rafale fighter jets, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday gave another blow to the Congress calling the allegations levelled by the opposition party "shameful" and a "disservice" to the armed forces. "The deal was finalised following a transparent procedure", Sitharaman told reporters.

Final price of each Rafale jet?

The Congress and the BJP have exchanged barbs over the multi-crore Rafale fighter aircraft deal.

Chennai: Those aspiring to make equipment for the defence forces must be futuristic, said Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. She said the industry can also get help from experts in the field for a better understanding of the segment, and added that capacity building for the next 50 years has to be taken into consideration.

Rep says David Cassidy in hospital, 'surrounded by family'
Cassidy is best known for his role as Keith Partridge in the '70s TV series and for his career as a pop singer. Cassidy is conscious, however, and surrounded by family.

Rahul also took pot shots at PM Modi over the Rafale deal on Twitter saying, "Can you explain "Reliance" on someone with nil experience in aerospace for Rafale deal?"

"Why is the Modi government and Defence Minister hiding the purchase price?"

Congress had earlier accused the government of compromising national interest and security while promoting "crony capitalism" and causing a loss to the public exchequer. "The government has negotiated a very good deal". Indian Air Force bases at Ambala in Haryana, close to the western border, and Hashimara in West Bengal, close to the China border, are set to home the squadrons of Rafale fighters.

"That was the grim situation when this government came to power in 2014 and, therefore, we had to move forward so that the air force is not left with unattended requirements for the sake of preparedness", she said.
