Sir Elton John is mourning the loss of his mother, Sheila Farebrother, just months after ending their almost decade-long estrangement.
The singer explained on his Instagram he was in shock as he 'only saw her last Monday'.
It seems the two of them first fell out back in 2008, when she refused to break contact with two of Elton's friends despite him having severed his relationship with them.
After not speaking to her for eight years, John reportedly sent her white orchids on her milestone birthday. "However, I can say that we are now back in touch and have been so since my mother's 90th birthday".
Ms Farebrother was aged 92. "Love, Elton (sic)" Elton and Sheila had patched up their relationship in May after nearly nine years of not speaking to each other.
UAE 'deports' Egypt presidential hopeful Ahmed Shafiq
A Gulf source familiar with the matter had told Reuters: "Shafik has publicly asked to go to Egypt and his wish will be met". With airport security high, Shafik landed in a private plane in Cairo airport on Saturday evening, the airport sources said.
Death is often life's harshest way of showing us how much time we wasted being angry with someone or not appreciating them and the short time we have together.
The pair hadn't spoken for over eight years before rekindling their relationship in 2016.
"Bob is like a son to me". I get the odd email from her, which for me is quite surreal, given what I do.
I am so sorry for your loss Elton.
John signed the post, "Love, Elton".
The infection was described by experts as "rare" and "potentially deadly", and all concerts from his Million Dollar Piano tour during April and May were cancelled.
