Florida State actually might not be bowl eligible

"But also understand the Florida State way of doing things".

FSU (6-6) and Southern Miss 8-4 will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on December 27 on ESPN.

The fan, an applied scientist from the San Francisco Bay Area who uses the nickname bakonydraco on Reddit, said fans in the community have studied bowl-eligibility rules the past two seasons as bowl organizers have struggled to fill games with teams that meet the six-win minimum.

But a possible administrative error, apparently discovered by a user of the website Reddit, is calling into question whether the Seminoles' victory against Delaware State should count toward the NCAA's bowl-eligibility requirement.

Delaware State is an FCS school, and NCAA rules state that an FBS team's win over an FCS school can only count towards their bowl eligibility if that FCS school has "awarded at least 90% of the FCS scholarship limit".

Florida State is slated to take on Southern Mississippi in the independence Bowl Dec. 27, but according to Reddit College Football, the Seminoles never actually earned bowl eligibility.

The Conference USA outfits were among the top five teams averaging the fewest turnovers in Division I, at 8.8 per game, but committed a season-worst 20 against FSU, and it also cost them 21 points. On Facebook, McMurphy noted the reason the Seminoles were ineligible was because one of their opponents, Delaware State, did not have enough scholarship grants-in-aid over two years, which discounts the 'Noles win and makes them 5-6.

Divergences in priorities could surface, and thus be exploited by British negotiators, although leaders seem keen to avoid that. But he warned the next stage "would be much harder than the first phase, and the first phase was very hard".

The report focuses on Florida State's 77-6 win over FCS team Delaware State on November 18.

Unfortunately for the teams that weren't invited, the discovery was made a bit too late to make any changes, and FSU will still play in the Independence Bowl. The Seminoles rescheduled the game, which had been postponed indefinitely due to Hurricane Irma, to give the players a chance to play their way into the postseason and continue the streak.

"I don't know anything about that", he said.

FSU is expected to use around 3,000 of its bowl allotment 6,000 tickets, according to school officials.

Florida State should cruise to victory and head into the most hard three-game run of any team in college basketball high on confidence.

Florida State had preseason CFP hopes and had no expectation of being borderline bowl eligible.
