Major, 3 army men killed in Pak firing in Rajouri

Two Army officers including a Major and one jawan were killed and two others wounded in Pakistani firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district.

"Pakistan Army fired and targeted 120 Infantry Brigade in Battalion Area of BG when the own troops were patrolling along the LoC", he claimed.

Of the four killed, the three have been identified as Army Major, Moharkar Prafulla Ambadas (32) of Bhandara district in Maharashtra, Lance Naik Gurmail Singh (34) of Amritsar district in Punjab and Sepoy Pargat Singh (30) Karnal district in Haryana and Lance Naik Gurmeet Singh.

"They [four slain Indian soldiers] were grievously hurt during the firing from Pakistani troops and later succumbed to their injuries", Joshi said.

Vowing to avenge the killings, the Indian troops swung into action to silence the Pakistani guns.

Vaid added that an officer was among the dead, and another soldier was injured.

This year 14 army men, four BSF personnel and 12 civilians have been killed in Pakistan troops firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir. "It does not only support terrorism but also provide state sponsorship", Singh said.

While maintaining that the Army will continue its efforts to ensure peace and tranquillity on the borders, Lt Gen Bhatt said it will "continue to take all retaliatory measures and retain the right to punitively respond to any provocative acts of aggression from the Pakistani side".

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, in a statement issued in the winter capital paid rich tributes to the Army Major and two jawans.

One Army Major and three soldiers were martyred while one injured in the ceasefire violation, ANI reported.

The Chief Minister has conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to their families.
