Four days weren't enough to determine at victor at the 2018 Farmers Insurance Open.

The playoff between Jason Day and Alex Noren extended to an extra day after they tied the first five extra holes.

American Ryan Palmer also made the playoff at 10-under par but dropped out when he could only make par at the first playoff hole, the par-five 18 hole at Torrey, while Day and Noren both made birdies. Storms the previous day had downed several trees and forced parts of the course to be evacuated, and Brandt Snedeker ultimately won the event without hitting a shot during Monday's finish.

Brisbane native Cameron Smith finished tied 20th at four-under courtesy of a closing 72, while Australian Open victor Cameron Davis plummeted down the leaderboard with an 80 to sit at three-over.

"I'll play all day tomorrow if I need to get the win", Day said.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Li Haotong made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to secure a one-shot victory over Rory McIlroy in the Dubai Desert Classic, making him the first Chinese player to crack the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Day and Noren have a long way to go to match the playoff record, with Cary Middlecoff and Lloyd Mangrum battling over a staggering 11 holes at the Motor City Open way back in 1949.

Noren found the water with his second shot of the morning while Day placed his third inches from the cup to seal their fates.

"I could barely see the last putt, but it's very enjoyable".

Holmes effectively fell out of the hunt when he missed the 15th green with a wedge and took bogey, and then missed a 4-foot par putt on the 16th hole. I was up all night thinking about trying to get that 11th win. "Very enjoyable. This is what I play for".

Overall, Woods said he was encouraged with his performance in the tournament. "It was going to be, 'Can I shoot low scores?' I didn't, but I grinded out some good rounds".

"I got a lot out of my rounds", Woods said.
