Shortly thereafter, NASCAR postponed the race and rescheduled it until Monday.

NASCAR announced Sunday morning that the Cup and Camping World Truck Series races have been postponed until Monday after overnight snow. The continuation of the Truck Series race was going to be run under the lights, at approximately 7:00 p.m. Saturday night. Both races will be televised on Fox Sports 1.

The Truck race will start at 11 am ET on Monday with the Cup Series event to follow starting around 2 pm ET. Nearby areas in the mountains received several inches of snow, and getting fans - at least some who would have had to navigate unsafe conditions - into the snow-covered facility, which has mostly grass parking lots, could have been hard.

Townes sealed that date against Nevada , becoming the latest hero for Loyola . "He was a warrior", said Loyola coach Porter Moser. Or, if Townes hadn't shot faked and instead rushed a 3-pointer with Caleb Martin flying at him, he could have missed.

USA Today has a great look at a memorable snowfall that took place at Atlanta back in 1993, a huge blizzard that dropped more than three feet of snow and led to the race being postponed for an entire week.

Cup series drivers did get 100 minutes of practice Saturday and will line up in order of team owner points. That puts Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch on the front row for the start of the race.
