Toyota RAV4 2019 revealed

Posted March 29, 2018

Compared to its key competitors, the new RAV4 is the same width as the Honda CR-V at 1,855mm.

Two powertrains are on offer for the 2019 RAV4, with customers given the choice between a 2.5-liter VVT-iE engine married to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a system made of the same engine and Toyota's Hybrid System II connected to an electronically-controlled CVT. The increase in demand for SUVs in recent years has also built up pressure on Toyota to release a refreshed RAV4. It's also slightly wider and just a bit shorter than the present RAV4.

The RAV4 compact SUV is Toyota's best-selling vehicle in Canada, with sales of more than 50,000 nationwide past year. The new AWD system is one of three available on the all-new RAV4, including the AWD-i system available on hybrid grades and the non-Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD system available on non-hybrid models. Again, Toyota is mum on powertrain details, but the automaker did say that a continuously variable transmission will be standard and that the hybrid will be the highest-performance RAV4 variant. Unlike with the Auris that was revealed at the Geneva motor show, we've also had a look at the interior of the new auto, which shows off an angular theme to the dashboard that was introduced with the smaller C-HR SUV. The instrument panel houses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay connectivity that is perched atop the centre stack and plenty of storage spaces.

Regardless, we have quite a group of semifinalists ready to go Sunday morning and hoping for an afternoon date in the final. Schauffele was two-up by the third, but successive birdies by Sharma on fourth and fifth brought the match to all square.

The Toyota RAV4 is the brand's best-selling model in the US these days, meaning the importance of this fourth-generation version can not be overstated. XSE, Limited, and Adventure models will be offered, though we don't know if all versions will be available in Europe. An electronically-controlled, automated system determines how much torque to feed to the rear wheels on the RAV4 Hybrid according to driving conditions. You will also find a Qi wireless charging pad, up to five USB ports, a new 11-speaker, and 800-watt JBL premium audio system. The compact will also receive the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0 suite which includes front precollision warning with autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and prevention, automatic high beams and, new this year, Lane Trace Assist. Also standard is Road Sign Assist, which sees certain types of road signs such as stop, speed, yield, and do not enter, and displays them on the multi-information display between the main gauges.

"The combination of Toyota's latest hybrid system and a new Dynamic Force petrol engine will deliver impressive power output and exceptional energy efficiency", Mr Hanley said. The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will arrive at the end of 2018, while the hybrid models will arrive in early 2019.
