CU may be under 4 inches of snow when storm ends

Most of the snow will likely be gone by late Monday or Tuesday.

The weather service says conditions are expected to worsen by sunrise as the heavy, wet snow continues to fall. Less than an inch of snow is expected.

"Nearly all the model runs from the past three days have consistently said that this system will have an impact on us here in CT to some degree, suggesting snow for the morning ride", said meteorologist Scot Haney. The last time Philadelphia had April snow was 1996 when it 2.4 inches fell. As of right now, the southern portion of the state is not expected to be impacted by the storm.

But, winter is hanging around like an unwelcome guest, with a chance of rain turning to snow in the forecast Friday and Saturday.

"Potentially, we're living off our savings from a year ago so we have to be very prudent in our water use", Gehrke said.

The chilly, snowy conditions will be courtesy of an upper-level weather pattern - specifically, a southward dip in the jet stream over the Rockies into the central Plains, Midwest and Northeast - which has been in place for much of March.
