Major League Baseball will make its first foray into Europe next season with the biggest possible splash: by showcasing the sport's heavyweights.
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play a pair of regular-season games next June at London's Olympic Stadium, MLB announced on Tuesday. MLB, which has previously staged regular-season contests in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan and Australia, will return to London for another series in 2020, with the participating teams yet to.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has today unveiled plans for the historic London Series 2019, which will take place at the London Stadium next June.
It's the first time since 2002 Boston and NY have met with the two best records in all of baseball. "So fans can expect intense competition during what will surely be a great few days in London".
