3 detainees in North Korea released

US President Donald Trump says three Americans detained by North Korea have been released and are on their way home with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

While Kim is giving up the last of his American detainees, whom North Korea has often used as bargaining chips with the United States, a release could also be aimed at pressuring Trump to make concessions of his own in his bid to get Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear arsenal, something it has not signaled a willingness to do.

A historic meeting with the South, halting long-range missile tests and now the release of three American prisoners. Asked about the prisoners, the vice president said only that the administration was working diligently to free them.

He was arrested in October 2015 after he reportedly received a USB stick containing nuclear-linked data and other military information from a former North Korean soldier.

Trump said agreement had been reached on a date and venue for the summit and details would be announced within three days. The three men had been sentenced to years of hard labor.

During his 13-hour stay in Pyongyang, which Pompeo described as a good day, he met with Kim Jong-un to discuss the summit.

Trump noted that at 2 am on Thursday morning he will travel to an airbase outside the capital along with Vice President Mike Pence to welcome the three U.S. citizens - all with Korean heritage - recently released from prison by North Korea.

However, North Korea reminded the United States on Wednesday there still was tension between them, warning it against "making words and acts that may destroy the hard-won atmosphere of dialogue", the North's state media said.

Acknowledging this, Reynolds said that her actions on Friday were "bigger than just a law", and that she will not be backing down. This week, two conservative states moved forward with what could become the most severe abortion bans in the country.

"PUST faculty members [who are] USA citizens are still barred from traveling to North Korea as of now", Park says. Kim publicly apologized during a press conference.

Trump has credited his "maximum pressure" campaign for drawing North Korea to the table and has vowed to keep sanctions in place until Pyongyang takes concrete steps to denuclearize.

Washington and Pyongyang have remained in a state of war since the fighting in the 1950-53 Korean War ended and do not have formal diplomatic ties, complicating efforts to handle the cases of American detainees. Born in South Korea, Kim has USA citizenship and has lived in Virginia.

Two months later, North Korea announced it would send athletes to the Winter Olympics in neighbouring South Korea and so began the charm offensive of 2018. He made a secret trip to the country when he was still Central Intelligence Agency director.

Pompeo said Wednesday he was "thrilled" the men were now out.

"Bring our boys home", Mr. Pence told Mr. Pompeo. A US official who participated in the talks said the two sides agreed to "meet again in person to finalize the details".

Then again, the only thing these people usually learn is new ways to pull the wool over the eyes of USA presidents. They were seated with medical personnel in a curtained off area of the aircraft.

The three Americans will be personally greeted by Trump upon their arrival in Washington on Thursday morning.
