LeBron James at his brilliant best as Cleveland Cavaliers force decider

Posted May 29, 2018

LeBron James put on an absolute show in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 109-99 win over the Boston Celtics to even the series at 3-3 and force a Game 7.

But it did end with a familiar picture: LeBron James going to the NBA Finals.

I can't wait to see if James can beat Boston at home, where the Celtics are 10-0 in the postseason.

George Hill had his best game of the series with 20 points, Jeff Green was inserted after Love went down and stood tall with 14 points and Larry Nance Jr crashed the boards down the stretch.

To add salt to the wound, Kevin Love was ruled out for Game 7, which meant other players had to step up or else they would get blown off the floor.

James has said he'll sit down after the season ends to decide next move, and he's already being courted in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and NY where fans can only dream of him joining their rosters.

"We've still got to come out aggressive and play Celtics basketball", he said.

"The absence of Kevin Love, who was sidelined with a concussion suffered early in Game Six, left Cleveland without a true second scoring option alongside James". The Rockets host a deciding game seven of the Western Conference finals on Monday night.

"You're not going to get anywhere by looking ahead or behind", he said after noting how much stamina is required by teams to reach this stage of the postseason.

The Celtics were still within seven in the final three minutes before James made consecutive 3-pointers, punctuating the second by pounding his chest with both fists and screaming along with 20,562 others.

Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said that amid all the upheaval with trades in and out, James had been a true leader. "Luckily, I was able to finish the game".

"This troupe's resilient", Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters post-game."We'll be ready to go on Sunday".

Love missed the rest of the game after his head-to-head collision with Tatum in the first quarter.

James said earlier this year that he didn't intend to play every game of the season, things just worked out that way.

"It's a heck of an accomplishment for our ball club to (to win) without our All Star forward for basically two games".

Meanwhile, rookie Jayson Tatum scored 24 points to lead the Celtics Sunday evening.

Australian big man Aron Baynes was Boston's starting centre but had his most underwhelming game of the series, going scoreless and grabbing four rebounds. Whether you want to blame it on James' flopping or the refs' inabilities to make accurate calls is up to you, though.

Cavaliers: Shot just 2 of 17 from 3-point range in the first half, making three of their first 22 shots from long range before James and Green connected on back-to-back attempts midway through the third quarter. He scored the Cavs' opening basket and never looked back, finishing with 46 points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and three steals.

Continuing the series' freakish home/road differences, George Hill gave the Cavs an injection of playmaking.
