Shaq thinks LeBron James should forget about chasing championships

Posted June 19, 2018

The Hall of Fame center says he was seeking championships later in his career and doesn't think James should do the same thing, according to ESPN.

Former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal speaks during a National Basketball Association game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Staples Center.

Obviously, landing Leonard would make the Lakers a more attractive destination for James, given his desire to continue to compete for championships. But if I was him, I wouldn't be trying to get four, five and six because it ain't going to matter.

Now, following a disappointing defeat against the Golden State Warriors in this year's NBA Championship series, many are looking towards his next move as he may very well move into free agency again, possibly prompting a third installment of The Decision.

If he chooses to do so, LeBron James has the option to opt out of his current deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer and become an unrestricted free agent with a litter of teams to pick from.

Despite the absence of a clear sign from LeBron James, it seems that the Cavs' front office is aggressively trying to shore up the team's lineup.

In eye of storm, North Koreans sees scant news of Kim's trip
President Trump has said he will use the summit, scheduled to begin Tuesday, to push for North Korea's denuclearization. Similar scenes were seen on Sunday when Kim and Trump arrived in the city, and when Kim went to meet Lee.

He famously left Cleveland for the Heat in 2011 and proceeded to reach the Finals in four straight seasons, winning two of them. In what could turn out to be James' last season with the Cavs, he averaged 27.5 points, 9.1 assists, and 8.6 rebounds in 82 games in the regular season.

But which spot will offer LeBron with the best shot at getting back to the NBA Finals and possibly knocking off the Golden State Warriors this time around?

Add this as a strike for Houston in the LeBron James sweepstakes.

"Somebody told me a long time ago - they said your book is already set [before the later stages of your career]. You can add index pages toward the end, but your book is already set", O'Neal added.

"He done already passed up legends; he done already made his mark - he has three rings", O'Neal continued. His mentality now is probably: I want to get four before Steph (Curry) does. That's probably his mentality now.
