Fee Agreed: Manchester United set to confirm defender transfer

Posted July 17, 2018

Netherlands global Blind could be set to leave Old Trafford after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho. According to Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf, the club will reportedly pay a transfer fee worth an initial €16m, with a sum that could rise to a maximum of €21m in add-ons, and thus make him the most expensive player ever obtained by an Eredivisie side.

Personal terms won't be an issue for Ajax with Blind set to sign a four-year deal at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Blind arrived at Man United in a £13.8m deal in 2014, following former Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal to the club after their successful World Cup 2014 campaign.

That was reduced to just seven appearances for United in the Premier League last season as a result of injuries and being out of favour, with four of those appearances coming from the start.

Blind has been used at centre-back, left-back and central midfield during his time at the Red Devils and has won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League in four years at the club.

Blind could be a quality squad player for us next season and he would do a decent job as a left-back.

The arrival of Daley at Ajax could change the Dutch club's stance.

Blind would be United's first high-profile sale of the summer, although captain Michael Carrick retired and joined Mourinho's coaching staff.
