Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has given Jorginho's move to Chelsea his blessing, insisting it would have been a "mistake" had the midfielder signed for his side.

Jorginho was tipped to make the move to City, however, the Italy worldwide midfielder opted to reunite with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea. "I know it is not easy for him but we will try and find a solution", said Guardiola. "My advice is for players to go where they want to go", he told a news conference ahead of Friday's International Champions Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund (9:05 p.m. ET, ESPN2).

"English football receives an exceptional player".

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart, meanwhile, is poised for some surprise playing time in the USA having returned to the club from a loan spell at West Ham United.

Manchester City's new record signing Riyad Mahrez, Joe Hart and France World Cup victor Benjamin Mendy have been included in the club's squad for the summer tour to the United States.

"Manchester City players and staff departed for the club's summer tour of the United States earlier (on Tuesday)", City confirmed on their official website.

It was a sharp climb down from the ante Croatia had set having taken the game by the scruff of its neck from kick off. The only other teen to score in a World Cup final was Pele, who was 17 when Brazil beat Sweden 5-2 in 1958.

City play Chelsea in the Community Shield on 5 August before opening their league campaign at Arsenal a week later. "We spoke - they have to come back ready".

On Jorginho, Guardiola added: "I was disappointed (not to sign him)".

Guardiola said: "What happened last season was a effect of the work we did two seasons ago".

The outcome of City having a record 16 players at the World Cup is that the squad Guardiola has available for the International Champions Cup tournament in the United States is shorn of experience.

"Today everyone watches the Premier League so I have watched plenty of it in my time", Jorginho said on the Chelsea website.
