Trio of New iPhones Expected in September

The largest model will come with a 6.5-inch OLED screen, making it the largest iPhone ever. That's the brand new 7nm processor that will power the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED 2018 iPhones, as well as the 6.1-inch LCD model. Apple is expected to use the Face ID system on the three new phones and ditch the Home button for the premium models, says Bajarin.

According to rumors, two iPhone models will come with OLED displays, while the cheaper iPhone model will have an LCD display.

Given Ming-Chi Kuo's suggestion, this means the upgraded iPhone X and new "iPhone X Plus" would be the only devices launching this year to feature 3D Touch.

The rumored iPhone X Plus could convince some early adopters of iPhone X to trade up their existing phones for a better user experience.

The iPhone X wasn't as big a hit as some Wall Street analysts hoped for before it was released last November.

The new iPhones expected in September will all take their design cues from the iPhone X.

As for what these three iPhones are going to be called, apparently there's still some debate inside Apple - the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Plus are names that have been mooted for two of the handsets, according to the anonymous sources. It could have been the iPhone for the masses, but the $399 iPhone SE has been relegated to a niche in Apple's product lineup. Specifically, the upcoming wearable will retain the same design from the current Apple Watch models while featuring a new display technology.

Including dual SIM support would allow users to switch between mobile carrier plans more easily.

Experts believe the lack of interest in the phone is largely due to the notch, which many potential Chinese customers believe removes too much space on the screen.

And, according to reports, neither does Apple, because it's allegedly facing a 'naming conundrum' over how to christen its new products.

Although the dates haven't been confirmed, there are also reports that Apple will be launching the updated Watch and iPad Pros real soon.

A 6.5-inch iPhone, referred to internally as D33, will feature Apple's largest screen yet, as well as new features like the ability to view content in a side-by-side view. All models are supposed to feature Face ID as an authentication method instead of the fingerprint reader that Apple has used up until the iPhone 8.
