Timberwolves seeking too much in Jimmy Butler trade

Posted September 28, 2018

Almost one week after reportedly issuing his trade request, Jimmy Butler still remains a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. That came in a report from Marc Stein of the New York Times in which he cited National Basketball Association sources.

If the Boston Celtics aren't the team that lands Jimmy Butler, it won't be a surprise to anyone. A Heat spokesman told the Sun Sentinel recently they would not address speculation, but Miami looks like a major player in the Butler sweepstakes.

Per ESPN: "Front offices believe that Minnesota minimally wants to fully recoup the assets that Thibodeau gave up in the 2017 trade with Chicago for Butler". The report adds sources are skeptical of whether coach Tom Thibodeau actually wants to make a deal for his star player and things are "volatile" in Minnesota right now.

He had previously said that the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers were at the top of his list. But we're not going to do anything that's bad for the Timberwolves. We have to prioritize that. In exchange for the then three-time NBA All-Star, the Bulls received Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the #7 pick - Lauri Markkanen.

Cruz advocated for more armed police officers in schools. "I did not try to leave the scene of the accident", O'Rourke responded. But ensure that 242 years into this audacious experiment, that we are still a nation of laws, and not one of men".

The report notes the interest appears to be mutual as "the Heat have pursued Butler as aggressively as any of the 20-plus teams to inquire thus far".

AmicoHoops sources confirmed the reported talks between the Timberwolves and Cavs.

In recent days, Sacramento has been aggressive in courting Minnesota and several of Butler's trade suitors - offering to use its space as a landing spot for bloated contracts.
